How to Partner with FSD
Universities and colleges throughout the world are recognizing that their students need to be active contributors to global equality.
Unfortunately, these institutions often lack resources and/or structures in place to prepare students for vocations that address global
issues. While students can follow paved roads to becoming doctors, lawyers, bankers, and engineers, there are few defined pathways to
becoming social entrepreneurs, global activists, and international development
professionals.
Our university partners are changing this traditional landscape by creating opportunities for their students to not only study abroad, but to actively engage global issues. Their students are being shaped into global citizens who recognize that global warming, inequality, poverty, and unsustainable resource usage are very real problems that need to be addressed on an international scale.
Our partners work with us, because our university programs - Intern Abroad, Group Engage, and Service Learning Trips offer the premier training and immersion experience for students to engage the developing world. Our partnerships allow universities to focus on the pre-departure preparation and post-internship evaluation process, while FSD provides a safe, highly immersive, training intensive development experience that transforms students into global citizens.
If you are interesting in exploring a partnership with FSD, you will join an FSD-led community of universities devoted to international student engagement. This network of resources can work with you to structure your program based on over a decade of experience working with students in the field.
The following steps will help guide you in assessing whether FSD’s university programs fit your needs and objectives:
- Research our program locations and the development subjects we address
- Read about the three university programs we offer - Intern Abroad, Group Engage, and Service Learning Trips
- Look through our database of more than 200 community-based partner organizations
- Read about our partnerships examples and the list of universities and colleges we work with
- See what makes FSD unique
- Decide what student groups your program will support – young undergrads to graduate students
- Define the program start date and length of time you want your students to work in the field
- Define your methods of funding program fees through students or university resources
- Decide whether the program will be linked to on-campus coursework and credit
- Contact the FSD Outreach team to discuss how your programmatic objectives match with our university programs
- Discuss with FSD how we can help you shape your pre-departure and post-internship processes
