FSD's programs bring students, professionals, and groups together to support our community partner organizations. By working directly with on-site FSD staff as well as local NGO supervisors and members of the community, program participants design or support projects that reflect the host community's priorities. Even short-term projects have a high rate of sustainability because of the careful training, planning, and support that goes into volunteering and interning with FSD. Whether your skills and interests line up with one of our focus area, one of our locations, or both, you can take advantage of FSD's two decades of experience to have an ethical impact in the world.
Students and young professionals learn about international development through intensive training and hands-on experience with local organizations. Program length can vary from 9 weeks to a full year. Applicants should be 17 years or older.
Professionals of any age bring unique skills and viewpoints to our international partners while immersing themselves in a new community. Program length can vary from two weeks to six months. Applicants must have five or more years of work experience.
Coworkers, classmates, and families can work as a team to accomplish a specific high-priority project with an international community. Whether overhauling a business plan or building a water tank, these projects are designed to be completed in a short time frame, but their benefits can last for years. Program length varies between 10 days and 3 weeks. Minors must be accompanied by their guardians.
Language learners who want to participate in one of FSD's volunteer programs while improving their Spanish abilities can enroll in the Spanish immersion program for targeted language lessons and practice with local teachers. The immersion program can precede or run concurrently with other FSD programs. It is available only at our site in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
