La Plata, Argentina and Tola, Nicaragua
In response to our our Community Partner’s requests for support in 2010, we are currently organizing Service Learning Trips (SLTs) to Argentina and Nicaragua. SLTs allow groups to provide short-term, high-impact efforts that compliment on-going development projects. The SLTs will be led by a FSD program alumni with experience in grass roots development. FSD is responsible for pre-departure coordination and in-country support, while the Group Leaders act as representatives of FSD’s development approach and work collaboratively with the Site Teams. The SLTs are open to all interested individuals regardless of Spanish language ability and previous development experience. The trips will last 10 days and will cost somewhere in range from $1,500-2,200. The final cost is contingent on the number of participants and the specific nature of the project work. Program fees include accommodations, meals, trainings and project facilitation costs. Fees also include all work related travel expenses in country. It does not cover airfare.
