Health Opportunities in Argentina
The quality of medical care and services provided by the public sector has worsened in recent decades in Argentina due to the lack of government support, raising the need for nongovernmental organizations to fill the void. To read about current Health issues in Argentina, click here.
FSD partners with a group of health organizations in the La Plata area to support programs and initiatives that:
- Combat HIV/AIDS through a variety of methods, including: nutrition and dietary support for patients suffering from the virus; prevention and awareness through cultural activities for students and adults (i.e. concerts, etc.); training of healthcare professionals; and assistance/moral support for children of AIDS sufferers.
- Offer basic health services to vulnerable populations.
- Provide psychological and social services for victims of trauma related to major health issues, family deaths, and/or abuses. Activities include: medical and therapeutic assistance; training for people who are reintegrating into society; preparation before, during, and after surgery for patients suffering from cancer; and treatment for bipolar patients as well as their families.
- Implement public health campaigns for the prevention of addictions, HIV, and child malnourishment, and other current health issues in the local communities.
