Organization Overview

Amigos del Árbol develops different socio-environmental projects in rural and urban areas, with intervention activities and educational techniques aimed at preserving, enhancing and promoting respect and knowledge of our natural resources. The organization has been working in the city of Salta since 2001. Since its founding, it has developed relationships with various state entities, as well as third-sector and private entities. The current site team consists of young professionals and students involved with their local environment, and who believe in making a difference through community participation and collaborative work.

Programs

Current projects include: an environmental and anthropological study of La Quebrada de Escoipe (a valley in northwest Argentina) and a program to promote family grown vegetable gardens in northeast Salta. Amigos del Árbol has also developed a workshop program on agroecological farming that aims to provide low-cost and immediately applicable alternatives to ensure food safety for families in areas of social risk. Additional programs include: a campaign to promote forestation and raise awareness about the importance of native species, and Árboles Notables, a project to identify and preserve trees in the city of Salta.
