To apply for the Intern Abroad or ProCorps program, the following documents must be submitted via email to FSD. Please refer to the application form for full instructions.

• Application Fee

Applications are in Microsoft Word format. Please complete both the application and your CV/Resume in Word or an equivalent format and email both documents as attachments to info@fsdinternational.org.

The Personal Letter of Reference and Application Fee should arrive within one week of your application.

PREREQUISITES

We welcome citizens from all countries. Programs are competitive. Acceptance into our Intern Abroad and ProCorps programs is based on the following criteria:

Intern Abroad Program

Minimum Requirements:

• 18+ years old
• Intermediate Spanish speaking and comprehension for all Latin American locations
• 9-week minimum commitment

To be a Competitive Applicant:

• 9+ week commitment to working in host community
• Past university coursework in fields related to FSD
• Past work, volunteer, or field experience, which demonstrates initiative and leadership
• Basic understanding of what grassroots development entails
• Experience with cultural and economic diversity
• Genuine respect, patience, and curiosity toward cultures in the Global South
• Acceptance that the impact of your work may be more humble than you originally envisioned
• Ability to sustain a 40-hour work week for the full length of the internship

ProCorps Program

Minimum Requirements:

• Professionals or retirees with seasoned experience relevant to work in the field with FSD
• Conversational Spanish for all Latin American locations

To be a Competitive Applicant:

• 4+ week commitment to working in host community
• Thorough understanding of grassroots development principles
• Experience with cultural and economic diversity
• Ability to sustain a 40-hour work week for the full length of the volunteership

SUMMER PROGRAM RESTRICTIONS

During the summer sessions, FSD accepts Intern Abroad participants for 9-12 weeks only. If you wish to participate for longer than 12 weeks, you will have the option to extend your program once you have completed an initial 5 weeks of the summer program.
