The Fellowships for Action Program offers funding for public and community service project internships, social responsibility projects and internships, teaching, and education-based project internships. The deadine for summer 2006 will be posted in March of 2006.

The Flinn Scholars Program provides 20 of Arizona's highest-achieving students with a complete undergraduate study scholarship. As part of the scholarship, students are awarded funds for two summers or semesters of international study-related travel or professional development

Provides funding for students to pursue service-learning and volunteer projects internationally. Grants range from up to $4,000 for the Short Term; up to $6,000 for the summer; and around $12,000 for a semester-long project.

Boston College Students:

Sponsered by the US Department of State, this scholarship awards up to $5,000 of costs for study abroad to US citizen students who are receiving the federal Pell Grant.

Amanda V. Houston Fellowship: http://www.bc.edu/offices/ufel/fellowships/undergrad/houston/
Provides undergraduates of African descent a maximum of $3,500 toward domestic or international travel, including transportation, lodging, meals, and research-related expenses.

Advanced Study Grants: http://www.bc.edu/offices/ufel/fellowships/advanced/
Awards funds for students to implement original and independent research projects. In previous years, grants have typically been in the range of $500 to $2,000. First and second years only are eligible.

Research grants are awarded to sophomores and juniors, to conduct on-site research and raise awareness about the region. Funds are available for travel, room and board, and research expenses up to a maximum of $1500.

UTRA allows students to work with professors on research projects in four different areas of assistantships. Some of these fellowships offer study abroad programs to fulfill ones research.

Provides up to $3,000 for students to pursue international service work over the summer. The 2006 deadline is March 22nd.

Richard Smoke Summer Internships: http://swearercenter.brown.edu/funding/smoke.shtml

provide up to $2,500 to support research outside the US on a project leading to a bachelors thesis. Three to five fellows are chosen annually. This award is primarily for third-year students in the College.

The Calderwood Fund provides $2,000-$3,000 to Romance language concentrators (particularly Spanish) who wish to spend a summer abroad in a country where the language is spoken.

The Richter Fund supports unfunded or under funded internships with not-for-profit organizations. The maximum award is $1,000. Forty to sixty awards are made annually.

Bernard O. Brown Service Learning Award: http://scholarships-college.uchicago.edu/detail.cfm?scholarship=109
The Bernard O. Brown Service Learning Award was established to provide a student in the College with means to pursue a service learning project over the summer. The $1,000 award supports volunteer community service projects or under-funded internships in the community.

Awarded to an undergraduate senior who wishes to study in an educational institution in a field of their choice in any foreign country. Th individual must have a program of study or research that will be done which is approved by the Committee on Graduate Fellowships. The amount given for this fellowship is $12,000. Provides funding for project-oriented internships abroad. Students should relate the internship to their academic work, and should have familiarity with the language of their region of choice. Emory University Students:
The Center for International Programs Abroad (CIPA): http://www.cipa.emory.edu
Developed a new undergraduate grant opportunity, wherein students can engage in a combination of service learning in developing countries with academic inquiry over the summer months. This new, non-credit bearing program is called UPGRADE (Undergraduate Program in Global Research and Development). It allows students to approach their time abroad from a different angle, one that strongly emphasizes volunteer work. The student will independently contact and apply to a reputable international volunteer organization like Cross Cultural Solutions or Peace Work, etc, and then after successfully applying to UPGRADE as well, he or she will be awarded funding ($2,100 maximum) to participate in a summer program that integrates academic learning with giving back to the host community.

This is a spring semester abroad grant program geared for stuents wishing to have an imersed experience, living with a host family and learning the language. Students will recieve $1,500 for tuition, room and board as well as airfare. Application is due Oct 1st, 2006.

The Courts Scholars Program awards U Georgia students between $2500 and $5000 to pursue international internships. Only proposals to travel in Asia, South America and Central America are considered. Henigson Fellows spend ten to twelve months working with a nongovernmental human rights organization in the developing world. Each fellowship carries stipend of $22,000. The Weissman Internship Program provides funds for students to pursue a full-time internship abroad. Projects are usually between 8 to 12 weeks and take place over the summer, but longer internships are considered. Sophomores and juniors are eligible.
