This collection of websites that offer job postings, while not exhaustive, is a great place to start your search. We have divided the sites into different catagories to try and guide your search, but please note that some of the listings could be placed in more than one catagory; therefore, a thorough search through all of the listings is recommended.

International Careers:

  • Transitions Abroad: articles, links, and all kinds of general helpful stuff to help you in your search for international work. The organization of the site leaves something to be desired, so browse carefully as you will miss many wonderful and hidden links.
  • Dave's ESL Cafe: Dave is Dave Spelling, and his site has a plethora of well-organized information on teaching abroad. Articles, links to hundreds of job databases, and general information make this meta-site a must visit.
  • Escape Artist - Jobs Overseas: organized by location or category, it has some interesting posts and opportunities for working abroad, but in general is difficult to navigate and find the exact type of positions that you may be looking for.
  • USA Jobs: this is the official site for jobs both nationally and internationally with the United States Federal Government.
  • Foreign Policy Association: known as the FPA, they serves as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding of, and providing informed opinions on global issues. You can search jobs by category of interest or region.
  • Euro Graduate: billed as the European graduate career center, this database has some great links to careers of all kinds throughout Europe.
  • Idealist: having become the preferred site for nonprofits to list jobs, idealist offers a wide variety of listings and great search capability. We have found that using the "Advanced Search" link at the right-hand top of the page is the most effective way to search. Additionally, by creating a personal account you can have new listings that meet your criteria sent to your inbox.
  • The Riley Guide: designed as a meta-site for job searching, it pulls together some of the best resources for finding a job. One of our favorite sites, a definite must see.
  • UN Jobs: while not affiliated with the United Nations, it provides comprehensive and freely accessible listings of positions open throughout the UN. Be aware that the majority of listings are not entry-level positions and that you cannot apply through this site for jobs. Complete contact information for applying is provided.
  • United Nations Human Resources: you can find a general listing of openings at the United Nations, and by registering you will also be able to complete a "Personal History Proile" which will allow you to apply for any UN position (register sooner rather than later as processing of profiles takes time).
  • Jobs Abroad: an extensive database that is run in association with GoAbroad.com.
  • 4-International Careers and Jobs: international job listings meta-site, it contains links to regional and country-specific job boards.
  • DevEx: "a social enterprise bringing efficiency to international development through recruiting and business information services. Members find jobs, projects, news, and professional connections."
  • Global UR: "a new international development networking site and webzine that provides a space for knowledge exchange, where people from around the world can meet to share their experiences and insights, and work together to solve global problems." The site also offers a global networking forum for professionals working in the field of international development.
  • Reuters AlertNet: humanitarian news network based around a popular website that aims to keep relief professionals and the wider public up-to-date on humanitarian crises around the globe. You can find a very useful jobs database, listing immediate positions in relief work.
  • IDS - Yellow Monday: this paper provides listings for interesting job openings with IDS (International Development Studies).

Development (NGOs)

  • DevNetJobs: lists opportunities in the development field, with a particular saturation of opportunities in India (where the website is produced). There is a large variety of openings, although most require considerable experience or specialized training. Like many sites, the pages are long and difficult to navigate.
  • ReliefWeb: an extensive list of “humanitarian” vacancies, searchable by country, date and organization. Very useful.
  • Voluntary Sector Jobs: this UK-based website covers the not-for-profit sector in the UK including housing, charities, universities, the arts and NGOs. Job seekers can search listings freely or register and have openings emailed to them. Contact information for each opening is included in listing.
  • Expertist.net: "the expert & specialist network for sustainable development and international cooperation between experts... Whether for an informal phone inquiry, a short term project assignment, a permanent job or any other commercial or non-commercial cooperation, this is the place to find the right expert." Not for entry-level positions, as implied by the name, it's for those who can be self-titled as experts.
  • Dept. of Public Information, NGO (DPI*NGO): UN directory of Non-Governmental Organizations, useful to find exact organizations you want to work for, though this site does not list vacancies.
  • Eldis Gateway to Development Information: with general postings on their main jobs page, they also have sections related to Development Agencies Job pages , and Job Websites and Recruiters.

US based Listings

  • USA Jobs: official job listing site for US Federal Government Jobs.
  • Campus Career Center: "world’s leading campus recruiting company. CCC was incorporated in 1998 to provide undergraduate and graduate students, as well as companies with an Internet-based solution to streamline the employment process. With a rapidly growing database of over 125,000 top students from around the world, and clients actively seeking to hire new recruits from this pool, CCC has succeeded in bringing these two groups together."
  • IntJobs.org: This website was conceived as a tool to assist the visitors in their search for an international employment. This is an ads-free, non-commercial resource.
  • OneWorld.net: Calling itself “The place on the internet for jobs in human rights, environment, and sustainable development”, this organization has some great resources and listings.
  • LatPro: great site for bilingual Americans or Latin Americans seeking work in the US, some international opportunities.
  • Opportunity Knocks: U.S. based online job site that focuses exclusively on the nonprofit community.

Health

  • Campus RN: many listings for national healthcare positions though rather limited on the international scope, this site offers great links to statewide databases of vacancies as well and many interesting articles.
  • American Medical Students Association: an online guide that is updated regularly by the Global Health Action Committee of the American Medical Student Association. It provides excellent resources and is full of freely accessible opportunities.
  • International Healthcare Opportunities Clearinghouse: known as the International Healthcare Opportunities Clearinghouse (IHOC), this site is designed for health-care professionals and students who are interested in volunteer work with underserved communities at home or abroad. The IHOC Web site was begun in 1996.... supporting information has [since] been made available related to health advisories, travel, culture, customs, and history. IHOC is an ongoing project maintained by the Lamar Soutter Medical Library, University of Massachusetts Medical School.” This site is freely accessible.
  • Overseas Employment Standards: UK-based website lists “nursing job opportunities in London, the UK, Ireland, Middle East, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.” Registration is free.
  • American College of Nurse-Midwives: job opportunities for nurse-midwives in the U.S. and around the world.

Women's Empowerment

  • FMLA Career Center: this database offers listings of positions that are available in the U.S. and around the world with feminist and progressive organizations. Search their website a bit and you will find some great links to other job sites as well.
  • CARE: Site dedicated to empowering women from around the world and working to end global poverty. Check their website for position openings.
  • National Association of Female Professionals: The National Association of Female Professionals is a unique organization that provides its members with networking, consulting, and educational opportunities to advance their careers and enrich their professional lives.
  • US Dept. of Labor - Women's Bureau: offers a list of high-paying, fast-growing occupations with coverage of nontraditional occupations for women.

Finance/Micro-Finance

  • UN Jobs – Micro-Finance Openings: openings in the microfinance sector of the UN.
  • Inter-American Development Bank: there are many open job listings with the IADB, but required experience varies.
  • MicroFinance Gateway: the most comprehensive online resource for the global microfinance community. It includes research and publications, featured articles, organization and consultant profiles, and the latest news, events, and job opportunities in microfinance.
  • MicroFinanceJobs: allows you to search and post jobs in the area of Microfinance and recruit professionals. They offer FREE job posting and you get to contact the employer directly. Employers using Microfinancejobs vary from Microfinance institutions, Non-governmental organizations, Public and Private Banks, Research Institutions.

Environment/Green Careers

  • EnvironmentalCareer: helping people work for the environment since 1980, the ECC assists individuals and employers alike, in matching potential employees with employers by listing many interesting jobs in the field.
  • EJobs.org: links to environmental opportunities in the USA and Canada. Employment includes careers such as environmental engineers, nature and wetlands scientists, GIS, technicians, chemists, earth sciences / geologists, policy and law, wildlife conservation, planning, education, wastewater treatment and operations, program and project management, natural resources, etc. Can also be found at EcoEmploy.
  • Green Energy Jobs: bills itself as “the only company providing a dedicated recruitment service to the Renewable Energy Industries and acts as a portal for our network of specialist renewable energy job sites” . Lists a number of international positions. Also links to a host of subsidiary sites (eg “Solar...” , “Wind...” , “Tidal...” etc) as well as some more general informational and career related sites.
  • GreenBiz: website dedicated to green initiatives, news, jobs, and information.
  • Green Careers by Monster: Monster’s Green Career Database. ‘Nough said.
  • EcoHouse: this University of Maryland based site has some great links to other sustainable and green careers.
  • Stop Dodo: taking its name from the extinction of the Dodo bird, this site seeks to offer a global portal for environmental jobs and resumes. Bonus: its all free.
  • Sustianable Business – Green Dream Jobs: Job listing of sustainable green jobs.
  • Clean Tech.org: this site has some great information on clean technology in general and a jobs posting board off to the left hand side that you should definitely look through.

Youth & Education

  • Dave’s ESL Café: Dave is Dave Spelling, and his site has a plethora of well-organized information on teaching abroad. Articles, links to hundreds of job databases, and general information make this meta-site a must visit.
  • TeachAbroad.com: freely accessible database of overseas teaching opportunities. No registration is required to search though the listings, though contact information is limited as you are required to email any program of interest through the TeachAbroad.com site.
  • US Network for Education Information: maintained by the Department of Education, this site has limited information on searching for jobs or job listings, but some great informational resources on the nuts and bolts of being abroad.
  • TesAll: vertical search portal for international ESL/TEFL jobs - both long and short-term.
  • Chronicle of Higher Education: database of higher education positions throughout the US.

Human Rights

  • Human Rights Internet: while not an extensive list of available jobs (as they often do not have any openings), their database of human rights organizations is a great way to make contact and check in with other organizations.
  • Human Rights Jobs: A “mixed” site - with some of the listings freely accessible but many more (and complete access) available only through subscription. Positions run the gamut.
  • Human Rights Resource Center: The above link takes you to the HRRC’s Training and Field Opportunities in Human Rights page which links further to Job Links, a Job Listing page (of open positions), as well as information on Internship Opportunities in Human Rights.
