Project Updates from 2011: From Maternal Health to Energy Security
To address the challenge of a lack of fuel for cooking in rural settings, Aoife, an environmental engineer and a long serving intern, introduced the ‘fireless cookers’ technology to the grandmothers of the Phoebe Education Fund for Aids Orphans (PEFO) to use in their homes and as a business. The women are currently earning their own income from their new business. This project was covered in an article in The Irish Times. Read about more projects here >>.
