This is a picture of my coworker, Luciana Costas, interviewing 3 women who live together in Los Cardones National Park. We are interviewing families about their cooking habits and firewood use, to determine if they are good candidates for a pilot program of improved stoves. While explaining their responsibilities, the women laughed that no, there were certainly no men living here with them, it was just each woman in her home, without help from any men.

Fundación Fénix is a drug prevention organization for adolescents. A section of its land is dedicated to the CDC, which trains families to better utilize the resources at their disposal. Growing fruits and vegetables in old television monitors is one technique on display at the farm.
